Welcome to 2012! Now that the new years parties and holiday dinners are out of the way, it's about time we started to get excited about Canadian music! The year ahead already looks promising!

March will see the release of a new record from everyone's favourite jam band Zeus. Their new record Busting Visions is sure to be packed with the feel-good folk fuzz rock anthems they have become so well known for. With their stunning debut, Say Us, it didn't take long for Canadians to claim them as main-stays in the Canadian music scene. The new single "Are You Gonna Waste My Time" can be downloaded for free at http://themusicofzeus.com. See them performing it at XM The Verge in Toronto below:

With a record release party in Toronto just last night, this local band has been turning heads with their explosive live performances. Hands & Teeth are the type of band that you can't help but fall in love with. Their vocal harmonies prove them worthy of their reputation and the catchy-as-heck riffs tying their dynamic tunes together make it well worth a second listen. Just at the beginning of a very bright career, Hands & Teeth have a lot more stages to grace and a lot more people to convert in to fans. It's really just a matter of time before the whole country is chanting the adorable course to their new single "Hunting Season"!

John K. Samson, my personal favourite Weakerthan, turned his 7inch series about Manitoban roads in to a full length record that's coming out next week in Canada via Epitaph! The record is called Provincial and sticks to Samson's tried and true formula of churning out well written and thought provoking songs that make any Canadian feel at home. If you've ever been to Winnipeg you have some connection with this piece of musical work. If you haven't been to Winnipeg, listen to this record and then listen to the Weakerthans' full discography and you'll get an idea of what you're missing! Winnipeg is a special place and can be credited for giving us lots of great music. The new record can be streamed in advance of the release date here:

January also brings us the much anticipated release from electronic pop trio Young Empires who have been making waves with their exciting stew of epic indie electro rock. Always keen to put on the sweatiest of live shows, you know you can count on this band for a memorable night out on the town. Their recordings encapsulate this party well, showcasing their strengths with pristine clarity. Pirate's Blend (Bedouin Soundclashs' label) was smart to scoop them up and it will be a steady rise for this band to national success but they will surely get there in no time at all. Watch their video for "Glory of the Night" below:

And that's about it for now friends! Listen up and let me know your feedback @SariDelmar!

Best,
Sari
