Welcome to this week's rummage through some of the singles released this week, 20th February 2012.

Covered this week are Gang Colours, A$AP Rocky, Deaf Club, Kasabian, Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Sleigh Bells with Southampton's own Gang Colours taking Single of the Week with 'Fancy Restaurant'.

Gang Colours - Fancy Restaurant

Perfect music to ease the week into gear, Gang Colours' latest lazes along on sub bass, mellow organ, sparse piano flourishes and a soulful two line lyric. Which is actually all it needs. Bring on the album.

A$AP Rocky - Peso

One his way over here for a UK tour soon, A$AP Rocky proves why everyone's in a tizzy about him with new single 'Peso'. I somehow had him pegged as another of these post Odd Future punters but 'Peso' is gooood. That chubby guy with the headband should keep his shirt though no matter how proud he is of his tattoos.

Deaf Club - Sunday/Mirrors

Themselves out on tour, with 2:54 in April, Deaf Club release this digital twofer today with 'mean, moody and magnificent' summing things up in this journo's lazy fashion. Rather than mention the 'g' word that's being bandied around, I'm going to go with early Verve and isn't there a touch of The xx to the guitar? That'll ease my shallow conscious while I listen again (and again).

Kasabian - Goodbye Kiss

"This one's a heartbreaker" says Tom as the live video begins, maybe overestimating the drunkenness of the crowd (although it was from New Year's Eve). Sadly lacking Kasabian's redeeming sonic 'Offt' and sense of the ridiculous, 'Goodbye Kiss' could be anyone, a mid paced ballad string quartet and all.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich - Pictures

It's maybe been buzzing around for a little too long for its own good but there's no denying 'Pictures' is a lovely wee song. Like-wise he's a name that's been threatening to do the business for a time and hopefully this release will see Benjamin Francis Leftwich get his just rewards. Sensitive sorts will be practising that finger picking in bedsits around the Country as I type.

Sleigh Bells - Comeback Kid

A unique proposition and sound means Sleigh Bells none the less need to load their sampler up with a new sound set. That distorted guitar sound has had it's day preventing the cracking pop melody taking flight here. Still they've got credit in the bank with me, i'll give it a thumbs up never the less.
