‘Brody Dalle-Homme: ASS KICKER…’

One day to go, so what are you doing? Brody Dalle is off to Spain…

Brody Dalle, ‘Blood In Gutters’, from ‘Diploid Love’

Where would you like to wake up?
Costa Brava, Spain, in an old sandstone farmhouse on a cliff on the Mediterranean. I’m obsessed with that area – I’d move there tomorrow. The sky and the land is like a dream. The food and wine is unreal; it tastes and smells so freaking good. You never have a hangover from the wine, ever. It’s the best tasting wine I’ve ever had. I’m pretty much a pescetarian – I can eat seafood all day long, and the olives are the only olives that exist to me in the world. The people are the loveliest and the lifestyle is so relaxed and f*cking cool. I love it there so much. I’d like my husband and kids to sleep piled on top of me.

What would like to achieve on your last day?
This is so heavy. If I’m never going to see my kids and husband again, it’s to let them know how giantly, massively and crazily I love them. Every ounce of me loves them so deeply, it makes me cry.

How do you spend the afternoon?
In the Spanish sun. In the gorgeous salty Mediterranean. In the warm breeze.

You host a Last Supper - who’s coming?
‘Diamond Dogs’-era David Bowie. Marilyn Monroe at her happiest My family. My girl Amaryllis. Louis CK. Amy Schumer. Bill Murray. Howlin’ Wolf. My mum and sister, Madeline

What’s on the menu?
The food from the region of Spain that I love so much and lots of delicious wine. The deserts are to die for to. I’m going for it.

What would be your biggest regret?
None. I don’t believe in them. I want to go to the light – I don’t need bags of dark weighing me back down to earth. I’m not into my soul being a haunty spook stuck in Nowheresville. I want a clean slate. I want to transmigrate into my next adventure.

What’s the last song you’d like to hear?
‘Sleepwalk’ by Santo and Johnny
. That’s mine and my husband’s song. When we got married, we walked down the aisle to it. It makes me incredibly happy and nostalgic.

What would your deathbed confession be?
I don’t think it’s the time and place for confessions. I try not to keep stuff bottled inside – I don’t like the feeling of internal stress, unsaid things, said things, traumas, or holding feelings or secrets inside. Hopefully by the time I get to this point I’ll be free and clear of confessions. I want to die peacefully and without drama – I hate overly dramatic scenes.

What would your final words be?
‘I love you.’

How would you like to die?
Peacefully and smiling. Without any pain. I want to float into a deep sleep, holding my family.

What would you have written on your gravestone?
‘Brody Dalle-Homme: ASS KICKER.’

Who would you like to meet at the Pearly Gates of Heaven?
My dad Peter and my Nanna Joan.

Describe your vision of Heaven.
Cotton candy pink clouds, stars being born everywhere. Sunset golden hour lighting, and also Hawaii… Yeah, Hawaii: it should look like a tropical paradise. Unicorns would be awesome, too.

If you could be resurrected the next day, what would you come back as?
Exactly myself, but with an incredible story to tell and a new lease on and appreciation for life. Life is so precious. I try to remind myself all the time, cos it’s going by like a bottle rocket on the 4th of July.
