Love can crop up in the most unlikely of places.
SUNS essentially make pop music, albeit pop music filtered through a prism constructed courtesy of a lifetime raving.
Visiting German club Berghain, the duo came across an unlikely figure. A meeting which inspired new single 'Temple Boy', it clearly left an enormous impression – as Michael Tyrell explains.
“The inspiration for the song came after meeting a very successful human rights lawyer on the dancefloor of Berlin's Panorama Bar. He was a brilliant prism of contradictions in a place where reality is left behind along with phones, cameras and a world that sleeps, and for a moment I was in love. So the song is a prayer to you/myself that invokes the strength to have it all: to manifest a personal existence that is all at once disciplined, successful and ferociously hedonistic."
This mixture of intellect and hedonism ripples through the group's music. Previous remix projects have included work with everyone from Mount Kimbie to Scott Walker, with SUNS maintaining an open mind at all points.
Crafting an exclusive mix for Clash, this wide-ranging sonic palette shines through clearly. Opening with German producer Apparat, the mix veers from pop – Solange, Aaliyah – to left field electronics and more.
